The three most influential African countries in the world in 2024 are Egypt, South Africa and Morocco. The assessment comes from the British company Brand Finance, which published its global soft-power ranking last week. For the first time the study classifies the 193 member countries of the United Nations. The African performance in this ranking is rather uneven: the first two, Egypt and South Africa, have lost positions, “despite the victory of the second during the last Rugby World Cup”, but there are more African progressions in the top 20 of this ‘year.

In the top 20 of African countries we also find Algeria and Tunisia, therefore the whole of North Africa, but also Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania, Senegal, Kenya, Mauritius, Madagascar, Rwanda, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Zambia, Democratic Republic of Congo , Ethiopia, Angola and Central African Republic (the latter enters the ranking for the first time).
