Cai, that is the Agricultural Consortiums of Italy, is a candidate to become more and more the supermarket of Italian farmers. And like any self-respecting supermarket, it now launches a line of own-brand products in its 180 points of sale throughout the territory. Seeds, fertilizers and plant protection products for traditional and organic agriculture will be sold at discounted prices compared to market prices, thanks to Cai’s ability to negotiate on an equal footing, as a strong and independent entity, with the main players in the sector.

Among the seeds, soft wheat, durum wheat, and organic barley will be immediately available. Already today Cai produces 1.1 million seeds produced, for 4.4 million quintals of managed cereals. On the fertilizer front, the offer offers products for nitrogen and phosphate fertilization and for organic agriculture. Finally, the catalog of Cai brand pesticides is the result of a collaboration with large companies in the sector and includes low toxicity, also usable in organic farming, registered by the Ministry of Health.

To date, the following are part of CAI: Bonifiche Ferraresi Spa, the Consorzio dell’Emilia, the Consorzio del Tirreno, the Central South Consortium and the Adriatic Consortium. It is a network that produces 407 million in annual revenues and has more than 11 thousand members. Cai already plays many roles, from technical assistance to farms to the purchasing center for the placement of products.
