Air Italy, at the start of collective redundancies

by admin

Nothing to do for the workers of Air Italy. Confirmation that collective layoffs will continue, announced in April, came from the airline’s liquidators. In a note they explain that in the latest confrontation between the company and the unions “the consultation ended with a negative outcome”. “The divergence of the respective positions did not, therefore, allow the Parties to find an agreement in the trade union phase of the procedure”, reads the note from the liquidators of Air Italy.

The liquidators of Air Italy, Enrico Laghi and Franco Maurizio Lagro now “are awaiting a swift call” by the Ministry of Labor. “The Company – reads the note again – reiterated the reasons that are not alternative solutions to dismissal, already indicated in the letter initiating the procedure, and further illustrated the reasons that, at present, make it not possible to consider the solution of the recourse to a further period of use of a social safety net which, moreover, would not exclude the dismissals, but would only postpone the moment of intimation ».

In particular, the Company illustrated, «on the one hand, how the legal conditions do not seem to exist to access an additional social safety net, in light of the current regulatory provisions, and on the other, towards the 1383 employees of the company in liquidation. “Now all that remains is to hope for the next 30 days in the ministerial seat,” commented the regional secretary of Filt CGIL, Arnaldo Boeddu.
