Alfa Romeo Says Goodbye to Petrol-Powered Quadrifoglio Cars: Electrification Ahead

Alfa Romeo to Discontinue Petrol-Powered Quadrifoglio Cars, Turning Focus to Electrification

Alfa Romeo enthusiasts may need to prepare themselves for a major change, as the Italian automaker is set to stop accepting orders for the petrol-powered Quadrifoglio high-performance versions of the Giulia and Stelvio models later this spring. This decision is part of the company’s larger transition towards electrification of its entire line, as reported by Car and Driver.

The Quadrifoglio line, known for its modified designs, specially tuned powertrains, and distinctive shamrock emblem, has been a hallmark of Alfa Romeo’s performance offerings for more than a century. However, with the industry trend towards electrification gaining momentum, the company is shifting its focus towards hybrid and fully battery-powered vehicles.

According to Larry Dominique, head of Alfa Romeo and Fiat North America, the 2024 models of the Giulia Quadrifoglio and Stelvio Quadrifoglio will be the last to feature a 505-horsepower twin-turbo V-6 engine. Following the end of production in June, Alfa Romeo will temporarily retire the Quadrifoglio line as it prepares to introduce electrified versions in the future.

While the news may disappoint some fans of the Quadrifoglio models, there is speculation that Alfa Romeo will revive the line with electric vehicles boasting over 1,000 horsepower before the end of the decade. This shift represents a significant milestone in the brand’s evolution towards a more sustainable and technologically advanced future.

As the automotive industry continues to embrace electrification, Alfa Romeo’s decision to prioritize eco-friendly powertrains underscores the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability. Stay tuned for updates on the future of the iconic Quadrifoglio line as Alfa Romeo charts a new course in the electric vehicle landscape.
