by admin

Italy is the guest country of honor at the 20th edition of the Djazagro professional agri-food production fair, which opened on Monday in Algiers. The event records the participation of 600 exhibitors, representing 28 countries. For the inauguration, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mohamed Abdelhafid Henni, was accompanied by the Italian Minister of Agricultural Policies, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, Francesco Lollobrigida.

Henni called this event “exceptional” due to the strong presence of foreign participants, assuring that it will allow the partnership to develop, particularly in the agri-food sector and to create added value. He also told the press that “Algeria is focusing heavily on agriculture, the agri-food industry and the transformation of agricultural products to diversify its economy and develop its exports, especially to African countries”.

“Many infrastructures have been built to achieve this goal,” he insisted, citing in particular the Trans-Saharan road and many railways.

Regarding the partnership with the Italian side, whose pavilion brings together over sixty participants, the minister highlighted the quality of relations between the two countries, recalling that “Italy, which has always supported Algeria during its war of liberation , has maintained this friendly link after Independence, strengthening its economic partnership through the presence of its companies”.
