Amazon, the confrontation with the unions starts again Under the wing of the Minister of Labor

by admin

The confrontation between Amazon and the unions restarts under the wing of the Minister of Labor, Andrea Orlando who yesterday attended the meeting between the leaders of the multinational, Assoespressi and the logistic companies. After the national strike of the past few weeks, yesterday, the picture seems to have been reassembled to the point that the general secretaries of the logistics unions, Stefano Malorgio (Filt Cgil), Salvatore Pellecchia (Fit Cisl) and Claudio Tarlazzi (Uiltrasporti) spoke of “important step forward, thanks to the intervention of Minister Orlando, obtaining the willingness to reactivate the confrontation ».

Minister Orlando invited everyone to “meet again in a suitable period of time to evaluate the progress of the confrontation. The specificity from which the convocation arises is linked to the fact that this change of model in industrial relations has a series of implications that have an impact on two fronts: traditional distribution and the combination of product sales and the logistics chain. When you go beyond a ‘traditional’ model, there are always positive aspects and critical points that must be managed. The fact that continuous, orderly and profitable industrial relations develop has an effect not only on the company, but on the supply chain. We also hope with positive outcomes. I also thank that Amazon has accepted the invitation, I consider it a positive attention ». To measure the results of the resumption of confrontation and “the achievement of an agreement on the application of labor regulations and the national contract,” the unions write, the parties have agreed to meet at the ministry in two months.

On the regulatory front, the trade unions ask “in accordance with the provisions of the bargaining in our country, the recognition, in each production site and for each company, including contractors, of the role of the worker safety representative for compliance with the health and safety legislation work and the application of protocols for the containment of Covid-19 ». As for the more general framework of bargaining, according to Filt Cgil, Fit Cisl and Uiltrasporti “it is necessary to define a protocol of trade union relations, in the wake of the supply chain platform, already illustrated to Amazon and Assoespressi in the meetings held last January, on the correct application of the national contract for direct employees and contracted companies, starting from the comparison on rhythms, loads and work shifts, on the exercise of second-level bargaining, also on economic issues, to be extended also to temporary and precarious work ” .
