Amazon’s strong drive in recruiting hauliers to move goods between the various warehouses in its network collides with the current shortage of drivers, especially on the eve of the holiday season which foresees record numbers on the total number of packages to be delivered around the planet. All this emerges from an analysis published today by Reuters.

The project, called Amazon Freight Partners (AFP), enlists independent haulier companies to move goods between Amazon’s various warehouses. The recruited companies then work exclusively for the US giant, also to and from the 85 aircraft owned by Amazon in the United States.

Therefore a further worry, a knot to be solved, for international supply chains that already have to face the restrictions caused in various areas of the planet by the pandemic.
