American Express: EPS above expectations in 1Q 2024

In the first quarter of 2024, American Express recorded revenues increasing by 11% to 15.80 billion dollars, substantially in line with Wall Street forecasts, and an EPS of 3.33 dollars (+39%), higher than estimates ($2.95). Furthermore, the company confirmed its guidance for the remainder of the financial year.

CEO Stephen Squeri highlighted solid demand from younger consumers, while new card acquisitions accelerated in the quarter.
