At the Bit in Milan, tourism is looking for a restart

It was expected by the sector as the year of the restart: after two difficult years due to the pandemic, 2022 was also to mark the recovery of international routes linked to tourism. The war between Russia and Ukraine has come as a cold shower to freeze the expectations of the operators, who for three days (from 10 to 12 April) will meet at the Bit fair in Milan to observe the new trends and think about the prospects of the sector.

In total, more than a thousand exhibitors (15% from abroad from 35 countries) will occupy the spaces of Fiera Milano. The incoming buyer program will bring highly profiled operators from 47 countries to Milan, representing all the most relevant types, in particular from Europe (36%) and North America (16%), as well as from Central and South America, the Middle East and Africa. Among the top countries in terms of origin, the United States, Brazil, United Arab Emirates, Argentina, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain.

Also this year the aftermath of the pandemic and international uncertainties lead to rediscovering proximity holidays in the open air. Location in the green, away from the crowds, between art, tradition, good food and relaxation.

Among the Regions that will bring their slow and sustainable proposals, in Milan there will be Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Lazio, Liguria, Lombardy, Marche, Molise, Piedmont, Puglia, Sardinia, Sicily, Tuscany, Umbria and Veneto.

Innovation and sustainability are confirmed as the leitmotifs of Bit 2022 also in the international offer: from the parks and naturalistic experiences of our European neighbors such as the Canary Islands, Formentera, Germany, Greece, Malta, Romania, San Marino, and Slovenia, to the eco-sustainable resorts in the South Seas of Cuba, Maldives, Malaysia, Mauritius, Thailand. And then the excursions to Egypt, Jordan, India, Iran, Israel or Morocco, or the socially responsible holidays in Brazil or Chile, with a special mention for the American “great outdoors”, represented by Visit USA.
