Atlantia completes the acquisition of the company Yunex Traffic from the German giant Siemens

Done deal. Atlantia enters the innovative sector of the Intelligent Transport System and Smart Mobility by acquiring a global leader, and also favoring the technological upgrade of the transport infrastructures already in the portfolio. The group controlled by the Benetton family through Edizione has completed the acquisition from the German giant Siemens of the company Yunex Traffic, with a final outlay of just under one billion (950 million) euros (enterprise value).

During 2021, Atlantia took part in a competitive process initiated by Siemens for the sale of Yunex Traffic, winning over numerous international competitors. Yunex Traffic is the leading global solution provider in the innovative sector of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and Smart Mobility, specializing in the development and supply of integrated platforms and solutions, hardware and software, for mobility infrastructure operators smart and sustainable, both at an urban and extra-urban level.

With over 3,000 employees, the company already operates in over 600 cities, 40 countries and 4 continents (Europe, the Americas, Asia, Oceania) and has assembly plants and research and development centers in Europe (with a key presence in Germany and United Kingdom) and the United States. Among the metropolises that use Yunex Traffic systems are London, Dubai, Berlin, Bogotà and Miami, with a track record of cutting-edge projects to fluidize traffic, improve air quality and increase road safety, decongesting traffic arterial roads and by providing innovative services to improve the mobility experience for end users.

“These are business areas – explains the company – in which Atlantia has already begun to operate, for example through the various urban mobility services managed by Telepass”.

By joining Atlantia, Yunex Traffic will be able to further expand its business, starting with countries such as Italy, France, Spain and in the South American area, where the group has a significant presence. The German operator, precisely on the basis of its highly specialized know-how, will also be able to contribute to the digitization processes of the Atlantia subsidiaries, favoring the technological upgrade of the infrastructures in the portfolio and increasing the diversification and quality of the services provided.

“In this way – they still say at Atlantia – we will be able to respond to the new needs of mobility with solutions that maximize the benefit of using data for an increasingly sustainable and safe mobility, laying the foundations to allow the circulation of self-driving vehicles in urban and extra-urban areas ».

In the transaction, Atlantia was assisted by Goldman Sachs Bank Europe SE and Deutsche Bank AG as financial advisors, and by Clifford Chance as legal advisor.
