The Reserve Bank of Australia – the central bank of Australia, has raised its key benchmark rates for the first time in more than a decade. The RBA raised rates by 25 basis points to 0.35%: this is the first monetary tightening since November 2010. The rise was higher than expected by analysts, who had estimated an average increase of 15 basis points at the 0.25%, according to a survey launched by Reuters.
