Time in Jazz
It is one of the most anticipated events of the musical summer in Sardinia: from 7 to 16 August it is time for Time in Jazz, the festival founded (in 1988) and directed by Paolo Fresu in Berchidda, his hometown at the foot of Mount Limbara, between Logudoro and Gallura. Here the heart of the organization beats and the bulk of the event is concentrated, in particular the evening concerts held in the arena set up in Piazza del Popolo. The 34th edition of Time in Jazz is developed and articulated through 15 other municipalities in the north of the island. Music, shows, art in Arzachena, Bortigiadas, Buddusò, Budoni, Bulzi, Ittiri, Loiri Porto San Paolo, Luogosanto, Mores, Olbia, Oschiri, Porto Rotondo, San Teodoro, Telti and Tempio Pausania. Concerts are scheduled in the morning and in the afternoon in ever-changing spaces and scenarios, including country churches, glimpses of the sea, squares, woods, archaeological sites. Each year the festival (which in 2020 was awarded the High Patronage of the President of the Republic) is recognized in a different title: “Stars” is the one that characterizes the next edition; a title inspired by Dante Alighieri, on the seventh centenary of his death, and his masterpiece, the Divine Comedy, where the word “stars” occurs at the end of each of the three canticles of the poem. In addition to live music, many other events and initiatives as always, the program will be enriched: musical activities and workshops for children, book presentations and editorial news, environmental promotion and awareness actions, film and documentary screenings, exhibitions, conferences, meetings, tastings.
On the border between Sardinia and jazz
In Sant’Anna Arresi the XXXVI edition of the festival “On the borders between Sardinia and Jazz”. The theme will be “Approdo ad Atlandide” in which Sardinia will no longer be conceived solely as a crossroads, a temporary crossing point for travelers moving towards new and more attractive routes, but as a last and longed-for destination. to 4 September 2021 with a string of concerts, preceded by previews, which will guide spectators on an ancestral journey where myth and reality meet, contaminate each other, tell each other in the present. An appointment marked by a return to the origins, while continuing to look beyond the boundaries. «A metaphorical return that digs into the roots, therefore, but – the promoters clarify – also tangible because, after so much wandering, touching the ground again and redefining the concept of arrival and settlement takes on a reassuring connotation».
