Bill Gates Says Unsure Of Musk’s Motivation To Buy Twitter – WSJ

Bill Gates said he was unsure of Elon Musk’s motives for buying Twitter Inc. (TWTR) and said social media needed to play a role in preventing the spread of disinformation.

Gates said he’s not sure what Musk expects from Twitter. “Musk could make things worse for Twitter. He hasn’t been in that space before,” Gates said at The Wall Street Journal’s CEO Council summit. “What does he think about those things that say vaccines kill or that Bill Gates wants to monitor all of humanity? It’s not quite clear what he’s going to do.”

Musk confirmed in a recent tweet that he questioned Gates about his shorting Tesla Inc. (TSLA). He turned down an opportunity to work with Gates on climate change, claiming that if Gates was serious about climate change, he wouldn’t be shorting the electric car company.
