The name has been around for days, but now it’s official: Stefano Boeri, architect and president of the Milan Triennale, will be curating the Milan Furniture Fair 2021. Or rather, the “Special Event 2021 by Salone del Mobile”, as he specifies a note from FederlegnoArredo, after the board of directors confirmed the assignment to the architect.
Boeri will work together with a team of young architects and international professionals, to give life to a new event, different from the “traditional” exhibition, and therefore to develop a new concept for the appointment to be held from 5 to 10 September within the spaces of Fiera Milano, in Rho, but with a presence also in the city.

Among the main innovations, the opening to the public, as well as to business operators, for the entire duration of the event, and not just on weekends, as usual. Not only that: visitors will be able to purchase (at “exclusive” prices) the objects and furnishings presented by the companies. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to a charitable cause.
Another novelty is the strong integration between physical and digital event, thanks to a web platform that will be launched in June. The event “will therefore represent an important innovation hub in view of the 60th edition of the Salone scheduled for April 2022”, specify the organizers.
The details, and the name, of the event will be announced shortly: it must be, in the intentions of the organizers, “a unicum in the international panorama of moments dedicated to furniture and design thanks to an exhibition where companies will have the opportunity to present the best of the production of the last year and a half, in a highly emotional and scenographic context ».
