Bonetti: “The anti-discrimination funds and for working mothers are coming”

A 50 million tender to support the return to work of working mothers and the implementation of the anti-discrimination strategy discussed with the support of UNAR (the anti-discrimination office of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers). And the first funds (we are talking about 4 million euros) to start the program discussed with the main LGBTQ + associations, in order to strengthen the national network of centers against discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. Elena Bonetti, minister for equal opportunities and the family, announced them at the Trento Economy Festival. “The actions put in place – underlined Minister Bonetti during the broadcast 24 Mattino of Radio 24, live from the Festival – will allow us to face in a concrete dimension the issue of support for discriminated people or victims of violence or in conditions of vulnerability”.

As for gender equality, among the main delegations of the minister, “it is time to move from words to deeds,” he said. “The Family Act will give the right direction to change – she explained – and will soon be completed by the implementing decrees that we are starting to write and by a series of calls, such as the one just published, which will finally be transformed into structural incentives”.

Elena Bonetti was surrounded by many participants, after her speech at the Trento Economy Festival on the theme “We need a new economy that has women as a growth engine”. She reassured everyone: students alarmed at having to choose between personal life and career in the future, fathers who want parental leave at least as much as their (or their) companions, mere passers-by intrigued by the crowd of people.

In fact, many approached her in Piazza Cesare Battisti in Trento, after her subsequent speech on Radio 24, broadcast on maxi screens in the city. It is precisely the issues of the social economy that seem to interest spectators at the Trento Festival of Economics the most: the construction of a new development model based on the well-being and health of the human being, in a productive and economic ecosystem that focuses on welfare, on the balance between life and work times, on the happiness of workers as well as on their productivity.

“No woman has to choose between work and career: we must reject this economic model and build safe and inclusive working environments together”. Around her, also established managers and civil servants in the service of the state, who have managed to reconcile pressing work commitments with the construction of their family. First of all, the deputy director of the Bank of Italy Alessandra Perrazzelli and the managing director of Sole 24 Ore Mirja Cartia D’Asero, with whom the minister spoke in the square, under the maxi screen that transmitted the images of Radio 24 in version live video. They all agreed that it is time to move from words to deeds, with regard to gender equality, to a real widespread culture on the enhancement of diversity and the inclusion of young people and those who have a weak voice in our country.
