Bosch and Cariad, a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, have entered into a partnership to make partially and highly automated driving quickly available in the series production of all kinds of cars.

For the cars of the Volkswagen Group brands, the alliance aims to make available functions capable of quickly and instinctively enabling, also through hands-free systems, level 2 semi-autonomous driving for urban, suburban and motorway driving. , as well as a system that incorporates all highway driving functions up to level 3. The first of these functions will be installed in 2023. Obviously, the alliance also plans to extend the development of technologies for level 4 and to make available the software platforms for cars and ecosystems of other car manufacturers. In this way Bosch and Cariad intend to become one of the most important players globally.

For partially and highly automated driving, the two companies will draw on the expertise of over a thousand specialists, on the support of information from 360-degree surround sensing and also on the data collected on the road by the connected fleet of the VW Group which, at the moment, it is the largest in circulation.
