Bper: Unipol files list for new Board of Directors, for the presidency the favorites are Papa (formerly Unicredit) and Mazzarella

Unipol, following what was communicated on 18 March last, yesterday filed the slates of candidates for the appointment of the Board of Directors and the Board of Statutory Auditors of BPER Banca for the three-year period 2021-2023, in view of the next ordinary Shareholders’ Meeting of the for April 21st.

Unipol, the main shareholder of the Modenese bank with 19%, has chosen to operate in total discontinuity with the current Board of Directors headed by the CEO Alessandro Vandelli. The list is made up of 7 candidates. The new CEO is Piero Montani, who in the past led important banks such as Antonveneta, BPM and Carige. Among the 7 names there is also Gianni Franco Papa, until 2019 general manager of Unicredit, who could be selected for the role of president. Another candidate for the chair of president is Flavia Mazzarella, former deputy director of Isvap and currently president of Banca Finnat.

The other names are Gian Luca Santi and Roberto Giay (both Unipol executives), Elena Beccalli (professor of economics at the Catholic University) and Maria Elena Cappello (former MPS who is now part of the Boards of Tim, Saipem and Prysmian).

For today, the list of 5 names from the Sardinia Foundation, a 10% shareholder of Bper, is expected.
