Brescia strengthens its green vocation. From the next thermal season, in fact, the heat so far dispersed by theBrescia steel mill will be recovered and conveyed to the city network of district heating of A2a.
It is therefore a “supercircularity“Where two companies, already circular in their activities (Alfa Acciai regenerates ferrous scrap transforming it into steel for new uses, A2a goes through the entire waste cycle, transforming them into resources), working in symbiosis, they are able to extract further circularity and therefore save environmental resources, crossing their areas of operation, going to have a significant impact on the territory in which they operate.

The project involved an overall investment of € 5.7 million 2.8 of which financed by the Lombardy Region and the remainder equally between the partners and the installation of the long district heating network via Maggia, Via Giotto, Via Carpaccio, for a total of 1.2 km of double piping and 12 months of works.
More specifically, the heat made available comes from the cooling water circuit of Alfa Acciai industrial processes, which has been redesigned to become a heat resource for the district heating network. A highly energy efficient exchange station was built which then interconnects the Alfa Acciai process and the A2A district heating network. The goal is to provide energy to controlled prices, especially in Brescia.
