Wo as representatives of the Greens and SPD always speak publicly about the Building Energy Act these days, they have two things in common – a noticeable urge to hurry and a prayer wheel-like expedient optimism. “Clarity before the summer break,” demands SPD parliamentary group leader Miersch, it’s “time to put the turbo on,” tweeted the Green Vice President of the Bundestag, Katrin Göring-Eckardt. For SPD General Secretary Kevin Kühnert, this is “absolutely realistic”. And suddenly even Economics Minister Habeck no longer sees a “principle problem” in achieving this goal.
The politicians are also resourceful when it comes to justifying their haste. People finally wanted clarity, they were fed up with the disputes, they should experience the reliability of the traffic light, they say. But who says that people don’t want a factual assessment of the pros and cons of the controversial law?
