Enrollments are growing driven by the increase in business confidence. The second quarter of 2021 marks an acceleration in the openings of new businesses that return to pre-pandemic values, even if it is still early to talk about a return to normal. This is what emerges from the Movimprese quarterly analysis, conducted by Unioncamere and InfoCamere, on the data of the Companies’ Register of the Chambers of Commerce.

Overall, the openings of new businesses between April and June reached 89,089 units, a value just below the average for the three-year period 2017-2019, before the onset of the global health emergency, and only 3,061 units below data for the second quarter of 2019, when registrations were 92,150.

The resumption of the entrepreneurial birth rate, however, is developing with different intensities in the area. In five out of twenty regions (Lombardy, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Lazio, Basilicata and Sardinia), the number of business openings in the last quarter was even (albeit slightly) higher than in the second quarter of 2019.
