Investing.com – Canada equities were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , , and the sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, Canada, it fell 2.63%, hitting a new low in nearly January.
The best performers of the session were LifeWorks Inc (TSX: ), which rose 2.23% or 0.39 points to trade at 17.86 at the close. Meanwhile, Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers Inc (TSX: ) added 1.49% or 1.14 points to 77.52 and Imperial Oil Ltd (TSX: ) added 1.17% or 0.81 points to 70.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lightspeed Commerce Inc (TSX: ), which lost 14.39% or 4.36 points to trade at 25.93. Canaccord Genuity Group Inc (TSX: ) was down 11.94% or 1.21 points to end at 8.92 and Ocean Gold Corporation (TSX: ) was down 11.61% or 0.36 points at 2.74.
On the Toronto Stock Exchange, 1,033 stocks fell, outnumbering gainers by 79, while 50 stocks were unchanged.
Shares in Canaccord Genuity Group Inc (TSX: ) fell to one-year lows; losing 11.94% or 1.21 to 8.92.
A measure of implied volatility for options on Canada’s Toronto S&P/TSX Composite Index rose 15.50% to 22.50.
Gold futures August options contract prices fell 2.88% or 54.00 to $1,821.50. As for the rest of the futures, the July delivery WTI crude oil futures contract rose 0.20% (0.24 points) to trade at $120.91, while the August London Brent crude oil futures contract rose 0.13% (0.16) to trade at $122.17.
CAD/USD fell 0.85% to trade at 0.78, while CAD/EUR was basically flat 0.23% to trade at 0.75.
U.S. dollar index futures were up 1.04% at 105.09.
