The routes that bring tourists to Italy from the East are gradually reopening. From next November 6 Cathay Pacific will resume connections between Hong Kong and Milan Malpensa. A route not only used by the business community but by tourists from the Far East to reach the Bel Paese. Hong Kong citizens alone in 2019 spent 24 billion euros on trips abroad while, as regards incoming, the former city-state the same year had conquered the primacy of the most visited city in the world with almost 27 million of tourists. Furthermore, the tourists who came from Hong Kong to Milan are shopping champions with an average expenditure, according to the 2019 Global Blue surveys, of about 1,850 euros against the almost 1,500 of the Chinese and over 1,200 of the Americans.
For this route with direct flight and weekly frequency, Cathay will use the Airbus A350-1000, the lightest and most efficient aircraft of the latest generation which, thanks to the design, the latest generation engines and the use of advanced materials, reduce and optimize consumption of fuel. The A350-1000 is the largest aircraft in the Cathay Pacific fleet and has a 3-class configuration: 46 seats in business class with fully reclining seat, 32 in premium economy class and 256 in economy class, for a total of 334 passengers.
