It is the Cherasco of the first half of the 20th century which tomorrow (Saturday 20 November) will be at the center of the historical conference «1915-1945, thirty years of war. Cherasco: mirror of complex and difficult years ». A day of discussion and analysis on the evolution of a city also in relation to the national and international events that profoundly marked that thirty years.
The appointment is at 9, at the Teatro Salomone, in via San Pietro 41. The morning section will have the theme “The context” and will be introduced by Edoardo Gautier. This will be followed by the interventions of the team admiral Ferdinando Sanfelice di Monteforte, on the theme “Italy-Allied relations 1943-1945” and of the researchers and scholars of the Historical Institute of the Resistance of Cuneo (among the organizers of the event), Michele Calandri on “World War II: the war fronts and the Kerasco losses”; Livio Berardo, «The vicissitudes of the chest of the 4th Army from Alba to Carrù (via Cherasco) between partisans, fascists and adventurers»; Marco Ruzzi, «Historical notes about the liberation struggle in the Cherasco area»; Adriana Muncinelli, «An ancient Jewish community during the racial laws».
Work will then resume at 3 pm. The afternoon section will address the theme “The territory”. Attilio Ianniello (Comizio Agrario Mondovì) will speak on «Cherasco agriculture in the first half of the 20th century, between innovation and tradition»; Barbara Davico (Library of Cherasco), «The fallen of the Great War in the memory of the Cherasco people»; Francesca Pogliano Petitti of Roreto, «Daily life in Cherasco during the Great War in the family correspondence of General Carlo Petitti of Roreto»; Francesco Bonifacio Gianzana (formerly responsible for the historical archive of the municipality of Cherasco), «Healing the wounds of war: the action of the Cherasco Liberation Committee 1945-46»; Attilio Piovano (Conservatory of Turin): «Music as a sensitive instrument: aspects of European musical creativity at the time of the Great War». The conclusions will be entrusted to Gigi Garelli (director of the Cuneo Historical Resistance Institute).
