The Minister of Ecological Transition, Roberto Cingolani, in a hearing with the Senate Industry Commission, declared that the Government “is reflecting on possible VAT cuts on bills” and that the possible resources to mitigate the expensive bills are almost 10 billion. In detail, Cingolani mentioned the possibility of obtaining 3 billion euros from the securitization of system charges on bills, 1.5 billion from Ets auctions, 1.5 billion from the reduction of photovoltaic incentives, between 1 and 2 billion from the extraction of income from large hydroelectric plants and finally 1.5 from the long-term negotiation of renewables.

“Ten billion may be enough, but not if you want to help both families and businesses. They must also be used to mitigate bills already this quarter, at least as regards gas, otherwise if aid starts in April it will be like closing the barn. after the oxen have run away “comments Marco Vignola, head of the energy sector of the National Consumers Union.

“It is not enough to cut the VAT, it must be canceled completely. We also need to cancel the excise duties and the regional gas surcharges, otherwise the sting will remain, however attenuated” concludes Vignola.
