Confindustria La Spezia raises the alarm: companies do not find staff

by admin

The staff is missing

The president of Confindustria La Spezia, Mario Gerini, for his part, underlined that the conference is an opportunity to «raise the alarm again; in some production sectors, in fact, the danger signal is such that, not only it is not possible to recruit new staff, but it is not even possible to compensate for the turnover, that is to say the replacement of the one leaving due to retirement ».

Yet, at the local level, he continued, “we need skilled workers, but also technicians and graduates, with particular reference to technical degree courses. Our territory offers a complete training proposal that involves training bodies, a professionalizing ITS and a university center. There is a need for a collective commitment aimed at creating the conditions to further improve their activities. And in this context, the role played by the Liguria Region for years is of fundamental importance (in the La Spezia area, through the ESF 2014-2020 programming, it has poured a financial commitment of approximately 29.8 million, ed)».

Training hub with the Pnrr

“In addition to the function of accompaniment and support in the acquisition of skills – said Giorgia Bucchioni, president of Cisita, employment services agency – training favors the possibility of development, competitiveness and success for companies and the territory . The system headed by Confindustria La Spezia has, for some time now, undertaken initiatives aimed at creating and consolidating a real training district, developed on the basis of the needs expressed by the local productive fabric ».

But now we look ahead. «I believe – continued Bucchioni – that the PNRR can help us for create technological spaces on the territories within which integrated training and work services can be created and the different educational and training systems can find a “home”, becoming a subject recognized and recognizable by both businesses and young people ”.

Not very formative school

Renato Goretta, president of the Piccola di Confindustria Liguria, highlighted «the difficulty for companies to find manpower not only on a technical level but also on an administrative level. A gap that is created because the school does not adequately train people. We have gods graduates, reveal the Invalsi tests, which they actually are functional illiterates and they don’t know a word of English. Companies, on the other hand, need individuals who are able to work; but they also need people capable of having a critical sense: trained interlocutors ».
