Coop Alleanza 3.0, board of directors renewed: Cifiello confirmed as president

The General Assembly of Coop Alleanza 3.0 delegates has renewed the Board of Directors that will guide the Cooperative for the next three years, ratifying the list of directors indicated by the territorial Assemblies. The newly elected Board, in its first session held immediately after the Assembly, unanimously elected Mario Cifiello as president, and Andrea Volta – as vicar – and Edy Gambetti as vice-presidents, confirming them in the positions already held since July 2020. Below the presidency of Cifiello, Coop Alleanza 3.0 – albeit in an extremely difficult economic and social scenario – marked marked improvement in results and completed the first phase of the Relaunch Plan.

In this regard, the General Assembly also ratified the 2021 results with 90.5% in favor of the 38,449 voting members: the year ended with Coop sales exceeding five billion and a particularly significant recovery in margins. especially in the core business which recorded, for the first time since 2016, a positive Ebitda. “I am honored that the Board of Directors has once again put their trust in me”, comments Cifiello. «To all the members, confirmed or first appointed, go my most sincere thanks and best wishes for a good work. I am sure that with their help, and with that of all the extraordinary people of Coop Alleanza 3.0, we will be able to enter a new phase in our history, moving from the reorganization pursued since 2019 to a plan that provides for the complete relaunch of the Cooperative “.

During the General Assembly, the Undersecretary of State for Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies, Gian Marco Centinaio, spoke with Mario Cifiello, President of Coop Alleanza 3.0 on the issues of agri-food chains, international scenarios, sustainability and the role of institutions and major distribution in a complex and ever-changing global and local context. “Coop Alleanza 3.0 has shown in recent months not only to be one of the main players in the Italian agri-food world in terms of volumes, but also in terms of values, because not only the weight one has on the market is important, but also and above all the way of doing large distribution in an ethical and sustainable way, taking into account communities and territories to field courageous initiatives inspired by values ». Cifiello said.

Undersecretary Centinaio commented: «We are experiencing a difficult time, the Government is making important interventions to prevent businesses and families from facing unsustainable costs. Therefore, I welcome with the utmost openness the invitation to operate in a perspective of dialogue with operators such as Coop Alleanza 3.0 who have taken on the task of containing part of the impact of the increase in costs and of supporting the supply chains. Small producers in the supply chains need to be protected and safeguarded in the contingent situation, but with a medium-long term perspective. Also from this point of view, virtuous supply chains and institutions can collaborate with concrete benefits for people “.
