Covid crisis, 10 million contribution to publishing from the Sicilian Region

An initiative to alleviate the heavy economic and employment repercussions that the entire sector has experienced in the last year

PALERMO – The ranking for the granting of non-repayable grants to publishing companies, radio and television broadcasters and press agencies based in Sicily has been published on the IRFIS institutional website.

As many as 133 applications were received by the Financial Institute of the Sicilian Region within the terms provided for by the call which allocated a total of ten million euros for the publishing companies of the island hard hit by the economic crisis and the emergency linked to Covid.

An initiative that is unprecedented in Italy and which used the resources of the Sicily Fund and the Development and Cohesion Fund to alleviate the heavy economic and employment repercussions that the entire sector has experienced in the last year.

Five categories provided for in the call for proposals, which allocated a ceiling of four million euros to print newspapers, two and a half million to online publishing initiatives and the same number to radio and television broadcasters, 700,000 euros to periodicals and 300,000 to press agencies.
