It is the president of the credit institution who outlines what the challenges will be for the banks and in particular for an institution closely linked to the territory such as Banca Don Rizzo. “In the near future the country will receive 200 billion from the European Community: it is a unique opportunity that requires planning skills and implementation efficiency, decisive for the destiny of the next generations – says Amenta -. The inevitable recourse to further public debt must be more productive than ever, in order not to become an unsustainable ballast for the economic and social recovery of the entire country. All the energies must be committed to this work, the Don Rizzo Bank will be there ». Meanwhile, let’s see the data for 2020. The financial statements, reads a note from the Bank, highlighted a further capital strengthening that made it possible to support customers in the worst moment of the pandemic: 2,000 interventions activated for a total of 103 million between moratoriums, restructuring and disbursements of new finance with an increase of 40 million (13.3%) in loans to customers which corresponds to a 14.5% increase in customer deposits.

“The ability to intervene, maintaining the necessary access to credit to customers, made it possible to avoid many defaults, limiting the NPE / Ratio (ratio between net impaired loans and net loans) to 2.13% (it was 2.92% in 2019), also thanks to the provisioning policy – explained by the Bank -. The positive performance of operations is confirmed by the size of the supervisory own funds which amount to 54.4 million euros (52.1 million euros at 31 December 2019) “.

A situation, explains the director Antonio Pennisi, which allows the bank to continue its commitment to support the local economy: “In a dramatic situation like never after World War II, the bank has responded to the expectations and needs of the community – says Pennisi – expanding operations without losing sight of the bond with the community, despite the entry into the wider operational context of the Iccrea Group. It is no coincidence that the first construction site activated in Palermo, with the so-called Superbonus, saw the bank as protagonist together with Unicredit. In addition, 5% of the Resto al Sud projects approved and financed in Sicily (around 850) are managed by our Bank. Since 2018, the year in which the measure was launched, Banca Don Rizzo has supported over 40 projects by providing loans in their favor for over 1.7 million euros ».
