In recent weeks, bitcoin first marked the new historical highs on April 14 (over $ 64,000) coinciding with Coinbase’s IPO and then retraced in the last few sessions with prices fell below the $ 50,000 area. To excel among the discussions on the web of Italians relating to cryptocurrencies is no longer bitcoin, but Ethereum. This is what emerges from the latest survey that FinanzaOnline carried out, in collaboration with T-Voice, a company that deals with opinion mining, sentiment analysis and topic discovery by exploiting artificial intelligence algorithms supervised with the aim of offering a precise overview of opinions and feelings shared via the web and social networks.

Analyzes were conducted on more of 13,000 texts in Italian concerning the theme “Cripto valute” present on the web and on the main social networks for the period from 15 March to 20 April 2021 .. All results are presented net of “off-topics”, ie without considering those texts that do not contain the topic of interest.

Italians less positive on cryptocurrencies

From the analysis of T-Voice it emerges that on cryptocurrencies in general, i18% of Italians express positive opinions, 69% take a neutral position, while the remaining 14% express negative opinions. Compared to the previous survey a month ago, the positives have dropped considerably (a month ago they were 43% of the total).

The most followed crypto

In detail, the Opinion analysis, which measures the levels of discussion of the main world cryptocurrencies, indicates that the most discussed crypto is theEthereum (40,93%), followed by Monero (19.75%) and Bitcoin (14.56%). Earn positions on Dogecoin – rising to prominence in recent weeks – at 13.29% (a month ago it was only 3.28%).

Bitcoin, on the other hand, is the cryptocurrency with the most positive opinions. The Cross-topic analysis, which allows you to cross the results of two separate analyzes to evaluate them jointly, crosses the cryptocurrencies with the sentiment level in order to understand how each cryptocurrency relates to the overall sentiment. The graph shows that Bitcoin is the cryptocurrency with the highest frequency of positive opinions, followed by Ethereum and Ripple.

A measure of the level of preference among the world‘s major cryptocurrencies is offered by the Web Opinion Index, which ranges from -100 to +100 (Values ​​greater than zero indicate a positive opinion, values ​​less than zero indicate a negative opinion). Here, Ripple stands out with positive opinions overwhelming negative ones by 23.42 points. Ethereum follows with 18.15 and bitcoin third at 17.53 (last month it was first with 33.86). The cryptocurrencies in question that have a negative value (i.e. more negative than positive opinions) are Monero with -11.47 and Dogecoin with -14.47.
