It was yet another volatile week for bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. After marking the return above 40 thousand dollars thanks to the tweet of Elon Musk on the possibility that Tesla will return to accepting cryptocurrency transactions once miners use cleaner energy sources, bitcoin has returned to suffer after the Fed was more proactive to counter the rise in inflation and the SEC postponed again his decision on whether or not to go green for the bitcoin ETF. The latest Bank of America Global Fund Manager survey shows that around 81% of fund managers believe the Bitcoin is a bubble, even after the price collapse of 35% in May.
But not just Bitcoin. The crypto universe is varied as evidenced by the fact that among the discussions on the web of Italians relating to cryptocurrencies no longer bitcoin, but Ethereum, which in this 2021 is showing much better performances. This is what emerges from the latest survey that FinanzaOnline carried out, in collaboration with T-Voice, a company that deals with opinion mining, sentiment analysis and topic discovery by exploiting artificial intelligence algorithms supervised with the aim of offering a precise overview of opinions and feelings shared via the web and social networks.

The analyzes were conducted on more than 25,000 texts in Italian on the topic “cryptovalue” present on the web and on the main social networks for the period from 17 May to 16 June 2021.
All results are presented net of “off-topic”, that is without considering those texts that do not contain the topic of interest.

Italians less positive on cryptocurrencies

From the analysis of T-Voice it emerges that on cryptocurrencies in general, 80.36% of Italians express positive opinions, a slight decrease compared to the previous survey when this percentage was 16%. 5% take a neutral position, while the remaining 14.4% express negative opinions, slightly up on the previous T-Voice survey.

The most followed crypto

In detail, the Opinion analysis, which measures the discussion levels of the main cryptocurrencies, indicates that the most discussed crypto is bitcoin (52.2%) followed by Cardano (18.06%), Dogecoin (16.62%) and Monero (7.19%).

Monero, on the other hand, is the cryptocurrency with the most positive opinions. The Cross-topic analysis, which allows to cross the results of two distinct analyzes to evaluate them jointly, crosses the cryptocurrencies with the sentiment level in order to understand how each cryptocurrency relates to the overall sentiment. The graph shows that Monero and Dogecoin are now in the top two positions, surpassing the Ethereum that led the ranking of positive opinions a month ago. Fourth place for bitcoin.

A measure of the level of preference among the world‘s major cryptocurrencies is offered by the Web Opinion Index, which ranges from -100 to +100 (Values greater than zero indicate a positive opinion, values less than zero indicate a negative opinion). Here, Monero still stands out, with positive opinions overwhelming negative ones by 65.02 points. Dogecoin follows at 63.32 and Bitcoin at 43.05. Only Ripple is in negative territory.
