Dacia Duster partner of mountain rescue

by admin

Dacia is a partner of mountain rescue associations operating in Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia. Each year, three Dusters are loaned to carry out rescue missions in wild and difficult to access places. “We have been using Dacia Dusters for 8 years. We have about twenty in our fleet. They are very practical vehicles because we can drive them not only on urban roads, but also on forest roads” explains Darko, a Croatian rescuer with 25 years of experience. On the Dusters the logo “Dacia. Proud sponsor of Mountain rescuers” appears. They are used as emergency rescue vehicles to travel to the site and prepare, if necessary, the arrival of other people and equipment. The first rescue team, usually made up of 3 people, transports the equipment and, if necessary, also the dogs to search for victims. With the 4×4 transmission, considerable ground clearance and great handling, the Duster is perfectly suited to work in woods and on difficult-to-access terrain. The Slovenian, Croatian and Serbian mountains are popular places all year round, especially in summer. Tourists and the local population come to regenerate in these natural and uncontaminated areas. Thanks to Dacia Duster, the associations of volunteers and experts in mountaineering, caving, diving and climbing guarantee the possibility of intervening in the event of serious accidents throughout the year. In Slovenia, mountaineering and hiking are very popular recreational activities. In 2020, 430 volunteer rescuers carried out 485 interventions, of which 1/3 concerned people lost or stuck somewhere. The Serbian Rescuers Association, made up of 500 volunteer rescuers including 250 reservists, intervenes about 1,500 times a year. Most of the interventions consist in assisting people injured on the ski slopes. In Serbia, Dusters have been used by rescuers every day for 8 years now to tow trailers with rescue equipment, transport rescuers and assistance dogs to the most remote areas of the country. 8 years of honorable service without ever failure. During the terrible floods of 2014, they were used to carry out difficult transport operations for several days. For example, in flooded areas, in the rain, in the mud, in the snow and in the blizzard. The turnout in the Croatian mountains is impressive: around 600,000 men / days of excursion are calculated throughout the country. The 700 volunteer rescuers intervene about 7,000 times a year. Natural disasters (floods, earthquakes, storms and snowfalls) represent 15% of the reasons for intervention. On December 28, 2020, a terrible earthquake completely destroyed the city of Petrinja in Croatia. On board the Dusters, Croatian mountain rescue teams were the first to arrive. Thanks to their timely intervention, they managed to save, in particular, a woman buried under the rubble. “With Duster, we are able to get to the crash site as quickly as possible to provide first aid” Darko reiterates. Appreciated for their reliability and versatility, the Dusters of previous years are generally redeemed and preserved by the three associations. Each fleet can count, in total, about twenty Dusters. Even in difficult weather and road conditions, the Dacia Duster places its reliability and its ability to overcome every obstacle in the service of these heroes of the mountains to save lives.
