For which you named Auditel as the way forward.
We had already adopted a general policy act before the summer. The solution can only go through a JIC, an organism in which all the components of the market are present. And the data, according to the Melandri law and the subsequent Lotti decree, must be certified, it cannot be self-produced. At the moment the only certified data is that of Auditel.
Which, however, measures only a part, that of connected smart TVs. Wasn’t it more fair to consider the other devices as well as Dazn and Nielsen do?
That at the moment it is a partial figure is true, but we believe it covers 80 to 90% of consumption. However, at this time it is the only certified data. And we can only refer to the data that most reflects the regulatory provisions.
For the next two seasons you no longer indicate Auditel, but the need for a Jic that is able to record the “Total audience”, with the measurement of all devices.
Indeed. The market is evolving towards this solution. You yourself have written that the first one is expected in March release. The fact that in the future there are other JICs and not Auditel does not change for us.
Has the level of consumer complaints increased significantly with the arrival of Dazn?
We are talking about a sensitive issue like that of Serie A. And in any case the user did not know where to turn. Hence also our sanctioning procedure for having disregarded the order on the establishment of a physical customer care. However, Dazn, it must be said, acted as a catalyst and was a great accelerator for the digitization of the country.
And in fact Dazn is not the only one to offer users in streaming football. There are also Mediaset with its Infinity + or Amazon Prime Video. Will you foresee stakes for them too?
We started from Dazn because the Serie A football championship is specifically protected by the Melandri law. Supervision will be progressively extended, especially now that with the transposition of the European Smav directive, clarity has been made in this sense. Moreover, we have launched a new organization of the Authority, which follows the subdivision of the sectors we monitor: audiovisual, Tlc, postal and digital service. Specifically, I add that if the reimbursement mechanism works, we will evaluate its extension to all interested parties, identified also through dialogue with the Ministry of Development.
