De Luca: “I won’t give up on the third mandate. The Democratic Party listens more to Catholics”

De Luca like Zaia: “Third term? I’m not resigning. And on abortion…”

The third mandate for regional presidents “is not a problem that concerns me. Since the national law was implemented – and Campania has not yet done so – it is permitted to carry out a subsequent mandate. This is what my colleague Zaia is doing, without anyone having had anything to say. I find it intolerable that small Roman bureaucracies should prevent citizens from democratically choosing their rulers. Even a single mandate can be excessive for someone who turns out to be incapable of governing”. The president of the Campania region says this, Vincenzo De Luca, in an interview with ‘La Repubblica’.

“I believe that the Democratic Party must address ethically relevant issues with much greater attention and respect towards the sensitivity of the Catholic world. These are questions to be addressed without ideology and knowing that the topic of life and death deeply touches the conscience of each of us. Having said that, I secularly consider that a human being cannot be forced into an ordeal, and that the issue of pregnancy termination must be removed from the incursions of associations or individuals who have no right to interfere with public institutions, much less never to offend the dignity and autonomy of women”, De Luca tells Repubblica.
