DHL breaks the ice on agile logistics work and finds an agreement with the union

Smart working is also beginning to make its way in logistics where yesterday, the icebreaker was the agreement signed by Dhl Express and Filt Cgil, Fit Cisl and Uiltrasporti, one of the first in the sector.

The agreement was defined in compliance with the “National Protocol on agile work in the private sector” of 7 December 2021 and concerns all company offices and workers whose duties are compatible with smart working. From DHL they let it be known that they estimate that about 2 thousand workers (of the 9 thousand in Italy between direct and indirect) will be potentially affected, considering those directly and in administration. The agreement provides for an exclusively voluntary membership and will allow each employee to take advantage of the smart mode for a share of working hours ranging from 20% to 50%. Each management will then decide the reference model and the application procedures. As part of the agreement, it is also possible to extend this working method up to 80% of the hours worked between the employees of the Custom and CS Custom departments.

For Nazzarena Franco, CEO of DHL Express Italy, this agreement «represents an example of avant-garde for us, for our organization and our country. The goal is to make smart working a structural way, even beyond the pandemic period, to allow our employees to achieve an increasingly sustainable balance between work and family. Attention to people has always been a cornerstone of our corporate strategy and today we are taking a further step forward in this direction ».

The agreement will enter into force at the end of the state of emergency and, according to what Filt-Cgil Fit-Cisl and Uiltrasporti explain in a note, “the personnel concerned, in addition to having the technical equipment available, will receive specific training and will be able to carry out ‘activity from anywhere, as long as it is suitable for guaranteeing the safety of personnel, company data and equipment ». Furthermore, the unions are keen to underline that the timetable corresponds exactly to the one in force in the presence and the economic and regulatory conditions of the national contract remain unaltered. For Filt, Fit and Uiltrasporti “it is an important agreement which demonstrates how even in logistics, with the necessary balance, remote work can be regulated to the satisfaction of all”.
