Disney leaves Italy, 230 jobs at risk

by admin

Disney stores leave Italy. The famous international chain has decided to lower the shutters of all its 15 stores scattered across the Peninsula, leaving “more than 230 employees with bated breath for the unexpected news”, say the unions Filcams Cgil, Fisascat Cisl and Uiltucs after learning the decision by the company. News that “however, it has come to an end, with the liquidation of the company which took place last May 19”, denounce the same unions, announcing a unitary assembly of workers for next Tuesday in order to prepare “initiatives of struggle to put in place field”.

“After the health emergency and the many restrictions, the periods of layoffs alternating with periods of work that are certainly not brilliant, after the most difficult year, now more than 230 families will have to face a further difficult and uncertain phase”, the trade unions warn, underlining that it is “a serious decision, an important brand, a point of reference in many historic centers for adults and children, which communicated the decision without giving any prospects or making proposals for occupational protection”.

According to what the unions always explain, the company is leaving not only Italy but Europe in general. Last March, Disney announced the closure of at least sixty of its stores in North America for this year to focus on online sales.
