“Let’s take care of the planet because what has been done up to now is not enough”. And again: «We are fighting against the pandemic, but we cannot forget the climate. It is a battle for the history and landscape of Italy. A beautiful country, but very fragile ». In his speech at the Leaders Summit on Climate, Prime Minister Mario Draghi reminded the great of the earth of their responsibilities because there is less and less heat to act.

“With the Paris agreements – said the premier – we are committed to reducing global warming by 1.5 degrees Celsius, to pre-industrial levels”, but “what we have done is insufficient. We need to reverse course and do it now. We want to act now, have no regrets later. With current policies, global warming will increase by three degrees ».

The premier then underlined how «the Plan for Recovery from the pandemic offers us a unique opportunity, that of transforming our economies and creating a greener and more inclusive economy. Our goal is to support the sustainable transition in Europe and ensure that the EU reaches climate neutrality by 2050. This is why we have launched a 750 billion euro plan that we have called the Next Generation EU ».

Draghi then recalled approximately 70 billion of the plan will be invested only in Italy on sustainable mobility, the circular economy and green infrastructures: «Italy is my country. It is a beautiful country, but a fragile one. The battle for climate change is a battle for our history and for our landscape. We will be dedicated to sustainability and, at the same time, we will have a multilateral approach ».
