Despite the global Coronavirus emergency and the interruption of production for seven weeks, right at the peak of the season, in 2020 Ducati delivered 48,042 motorcycles to customers around the world – 52,183 in 2019 – containing the sales differential compared to 2019. at -9.7%. The turnover, at the end of the 2020 financial year, reached 676 million euros, compared to 716 million euros in 2019, with an operating margin of 4%.

Italy first market, China, Germany and Switzerland advance

While sales are falling globally, there is no shortage of areas that go against the trend. A growth trend in sales compared to 2019 was found by Ducati in China (+ 26%), Germany (+ 6.7%) and Switzerland (+ 11.1%). Italy remains the first market for Ducati, followed by the United States.

Record of turnover per motorcycle sold

The turnover per motorcycle has grown to 14,883 euros (against 13,500 euros in 2019), representing the highest value ever achieved in the history of the company. «Thanks to a rigorous policy of reducing fixed costs – explains Domenicali – we were able to limit the drop in the operating margin. At the same time we have significantly decreased inventories with positive effects on cash flow, which to date is the best ever recorded. Investments in new products have not been touched, paving the way for a positive development of Ducati in the future ».
