Edison and Knutsen Oas Shipping today christened the LNG carrier Ravenna Knutsen, which will guarantee the supply of the coastal depot Small Scale LNG in Ravenna, owned by Depositi Italiani Gnl, (51% Pir, 30% Edison, 19% Scale Gas). The ship is the cornerstone of the first integrated logistics chain of small-scale LNG (small-scale liquefied natural gas plants) in Italy that Edison is building to promote the decarbonisation of maritime and heavy transport. In November 2018, Edison signed an exclusive charter agreement for a newly built ship with the Norwegian shipowner Knutsen Oas Shipping for a duration of 12 years (renewable for another 8). The tanker was built in two years (10 months of engineering work and 14 months of construction) by Hyundai Heavy Industries at the Mipo shipyard in South Korea and delivered in February 2021. The ship can carry up to 30,000 cubic meters of LNG. through three steel tanks with a high nickel content and suitably insulated, capable of withstanding cryogenic temperatures. With a width of 28.4 meters, a height of 19.4 meters and a length of 180 meters, the barge can reach a speed of 15 knots.
