The Ionity charging network enters a phase of expansion by announcing over a thousand charging stations by 2025 (from the current 400) which means the transition from 1,500 to about 7 thousand columns in the area.
Towards a wider network
The more than one thousand Ionity charging points planned by 2025 will be installed not only on European motorways, but also near the big cities and along the busiest streets. Future charging stations will have from six to twelve columns. In addition, the existing stations located along routes with a high demand for recharging will also be enhanced with additional columns.
With the project of tip “Oasis” it aims to significantly increase convenience and service. To do this, the company intends to buy other areas to set up recharging systems with catering services and related shops.
Who are the shareholders
Among the brands that first believed in the project Ionity include the BMW group, Mercedes-Benz, Ford Motor Company, Hyundai Motors with Kia, the Volkswagen group with Audi and Porsche, and soon the Blackrock investment company.
The network is based on the European charging standard, i.e. the Combined Charging System (CCS). Thanks to the 800 Volt technology of the charging stations.
