Elon Musk’s Low-Quality Video of Optimus Raises Eyebrows: What’s Going On?

Elon Musk’s Latest Video of Tesla’s Robot Optimus Draws Criticism for Poor Quality

Over the weekend, Elon Musk shared a new video featuring Optimus, the robot Tesla has been working on since 2021. However, viewers were quick to notice that the video was extremely low-quality and pixelated, leading some to compare it to footage filmed with a dated flip phone.

The video, which has been viewed 35 million times at the time of writing, shows Optimus walking around aimlessly. While the ability for a machine to walk like a human is impressive, many questioned why Musk would want the world to see this particular footage.

Shortly after the video was posted, Musk updated it to include a higher resolution version without any indication that the video had been edited. Despite the technical improvements, many fans and observers still found humor in the pixelated quality of the original video.

While Tesla has not responded to inquiries about the video, it is clear that Optimus still has a long way to go in terms of development compared to more advanced robots like Boston Dynamics’ Atlas. Despite showcasing some incremental technical achievements, Optimus is still far from achieving the capabilities of cutting-edge robots in the industry.

As Musk continues to push the boundaries of technology, only time will tell if Tesla can develop a truly autonomous robot capable of performing tasks like folding laundry, as promised. With robotics being a challenging field, the future of Optimus remains uncertain, but the dream of a fully functional domestic robot persists.
