By 2025, data centers and 5G will basically form a green and intensive integrated operation pattern.
The “Plan” pointed out that data centers and 5G are strategic resources and public infrastructures that support future economic and social development, and they are also the most critical link related to the energy-saving and consumption-reducing of new infrastructures. Promote the green and high-quality development of new types of infrastructure represented by data centers and 5G in an orderly manner, and play its role of “one industry with all industries” to help achieve the goal of carbon peak and carbon neutrality.
To this end, the “Plan” clearly improves the efficiency of computing power, supports basic telecom operators to develop 5G network co-construction and sharing and inter-network roaming, and strengthen resource reuse. Accelerate the retiring and upgrading of old and high-energy-consuming equipment, and promote the construction of smart multifunctional light poles. Accelerate the construction of green data centers and publish a list of national green data centers.
At the same time, encourage the use of renewable energy such as wind and solar energy, and increase the use of green power in data centers through self-built dedicated lines or bilateral transactions, and promote the consumption of renewable energy nearby. Coordinate the distribution of 5G and renewable energy distributed power generation layout, actively promote the de-redundancy and simple configuration of energy consumption systems such as power supplies and air conditioning, and strictly control the treatment of waste facilities.
In addition, give full play to the important supporting role of data centers and 5G in promoting the digital transformation of traditional industries, promote coal, steel, cement, nonferrous metals, petrochemicals, chemical industries and other traditional industries to accelerate the pace of “cloud use data to empower intelligence”, and optimize management processes. Realize cost and consumption reduction.
According to the “Plan”, by 2025, data centers and 5G will basically form a green and intensive integrated operation pattern. Data center operation power utilization efficiency and renewable energy utilization rate have been significantly improved. The overall utilization rate of data centers across the country has increased significantly. The utilization rate of Western Data Center has increased from 30% to more than 50%, and the supply and demand of computing power in the east and west are more balanced. The energy efficiency of 5G base stations has increased by more than 20%. On the basis of achieving green and high-quality development of data centers and 5G, we will fully support the digital transformation and upgrading of various industries, especially traditional high-energy-consuming industries, and help achieve the overall goal of achieving carbon peaks, laying a solid foundation for achieving carbon neutrality.
