Enel continues its energy transition process: La Spezia coal-fired power plant closed

Enel continues its energy transition process with the closure of the coal-fired power plant in La Spezia. The big energy company announced that it had received the final authorization from the Ministry of Ecological Transition for the definitive termination of the coal plant of the “Eugenio Montale” thermoelectric plant in La Spezia.

In Italy, Enel has already closed the Genoa and Bastardo coal-fired plants and at the end of 2020 it closed group 2 of the “Federico II” plant in Brindisi. With the authorization for the closure of La Spezia and that of groups 1 and 2 of the “Andrea Palladio” power plant in Fusina, already received, this year a further 870 MW will be decommissioned.
