Enel Green Power (EGP) set a new record in 2021 by building 5,120 MW of new renewable capacity, which includes 220 MW of batteries for the first time. This is an increase of 2,014 MW (+ 64.8%) compared to the renewable capacity built in 2020. Furthermore, EGP also set a record in terms of energy from renewable sources produced in the year, with approximately 119 TWh, of which 55.4 TWh from wind and solar, up 9 TWh compared to 2020, 57 TWh from hydro and 6 TWh from geothermal. The note indicates the growth of the pipeline of projects under development, which reaches approximately 370 GW, including renewables, battery energy storage system (BESS) and capacity already in execution.
As Salvatore Bernabei, CEO of Enel Green Power points out: “The results achieved represent a new benchmark for the sector and once again confirm our global leadership: in fact, we manage the largest private plant park in the world for renewable energy generation”. manager adds: “In the near future we will accelerate our sustainable growth, in line with the Enel Group vision, which sets an overall renewable capacity target, including battery capacity, of around 154 GW by 2030. Thanks go to the whole team EGP, our partners and the local communities we work with. The passion, enthusiasm and professionalism of everyone makes it possible to achieve increasingly challenging goals “.
