“Expensive unprecedented energy is an emergency and an urgency. It is an emergency because it has an unsustainable cost for 1 million companies in the service sector, the most affected by the pandemic. And it is urgent because it is necessary to intervene immediately in a structural way: from foreign dependence, to system charges, to compensating for the increase in fuel prices on the transport and logistics chain. In addition to being environmental, sustainability must also be economic and social “. This was underlined by the president of Confcommercio, Carlo Sangalli, commenting on the results of the study on the effects of energy increases on companies in the tertiary sector carried out together with Nomisma Energia.

According to the Confcommercio analysis, carried out in collaboration with Nomisma Energia, expensive energy is heavily affecting businesses in the commerce, hospitality and catering businesses which in 2022, despite the containment measures already adopted by the Government, will have to sustain an increase in the bill energy with a total expenditure for gas and electricity that will go from 11.3 billion euros in 2021 to 19.9 billion (+ 76%).
