Facebook and Instagram Services Interrupted Across US on Super Tuesday

Social networks Facebook and Instagram experienced service interruptions across the United States on Tuesday morning, causing inconvenience for thousands of users. Meta, the parent company of the platforms, confirmed the issue and later reported that it had been resolved, issuing an apology for the disruption.

According to reports on Downdetector, 72% of Facebook users and 64% of Instagram users had trouble logging into their accounts around 10 a.m. ET. The outage affected users in major cities across the country.

A spokesperson for Meta, Andy Stone, acknowledged the outage and stated that the company was working to restore services. Additionally, Google services such as Gmail, YouTube, and Google Play, as well as the social network X (formerly known as Twitter), also experienced interruptions around the same time.

The incident occurred on Super Tuesday, a crucial day for elections in more than a dozen states. This is a developing story as more information becomes available.
