The employment rate with the pandemic in 2020 falls across Europe, but in Italy it falls more than the average, especially for women, despite the massive use of social safety nets. This is what emerges from Eurostat data according to which in Italy the employment rate fell from 59% in 2019 to 58.1% compared to a drop in the EU from 68.5% to 67.7%. Italy has the worst figure after Greece. For women, the decline is wider, from 50.1% to 49% (-1.1 points) compared to the decrease from 63.1% to 62.5% of the EU average (-0.6 points). On average, the Italian female employment rate is 13.5 points below the EU.
