Fiat Panda, Stellantis: production in Pomigliano until 2027

The Fiat Panda – Stellantis’ iconic model, will continue to be produced at the Pomigliano d’Arco plant until at least 2027. Production will increase by approximately 20% from mid-March. This was announced by Olivier Francois, CEO of Fiat and global marketing director of Stellantis, in a press conference at the Campania factory where the Panda has been produced since 2011.

The new Fiat Pandina produced in Pomigliano d’Arco will be on sale from the summer in the main European markets. «The name was chosen – explained Olivier Francois – because it is the nickname with which Italians have always affectionately called her. It was presented on 29 February to pay homage to the historic launch of the first Panda in 1980, which was presented to the President of the Republic Sandro Pertini on the same date. Production begins in June. Equipped with new advanced driving assistance systems (Adas), a new digital dashboard and a new steering wheel, this special series – explained Olivier Francois – is the most technological and safest Panda ever. The standard equipment includes new functions designed to assist the driver both in the city and outside: the automatic emergency braking system, to reduce rear-end collisions, such as in city traffic; the roadway maintenance system; the tiredness detector to warn the driver when he is tired. Also included is Traffic Sign Recognition, which detects and recognizes road signs by displaying them on the new 7-inch fully digital instrument cluster. Most functionality is handled by a camera mounted on the interior rearview mirror. From a design point of view, it features a new white painted dashboard fascia and new seats with embossed Pandina monogram and logo, double yellow stitching, white details and Seaqual yarn containing a sustainable and fully traceable raw material obtained from marine waste. The exteriors are enriched with playful details such as the panda face on the hubcap, the yellow rear-view mirror caps, the Pandina writing on the side moldings and the Pandina silk-screen printing on the rear window. In addition to the existing colors – ice cream white, cinema black, passion red and Italia blue – the Pandina offers the new Positano yellow and new two-tone combinations (contrasting black roof)”.

«I want to thank the Ministry of Made in Italy because the new scheme which will come into force shortly will be a fundamental stimulus for production in our Italian factories. Not only Pomigliano and the Panda, but also Mirafiori and the electric 500″, said Olivier Francois.
