ROME – Chamber of the Chamber, lunchtime. They vote the agendas for the tax delegation. Up to that point, the work has gone smoothly. But when we move on to the proposal of the deputy dem Gianni Cuperlo, the tussle breaks out. Because the government expresses a favorable opinion on the odg on the delicate issue of tax evasion. But the majority disavows the executiverejecting the act of the Democratic Party with 148 no, while the bar of votes in favor stops at 131.

Cuperlo’s agenda commits the government “to carry out, coinciding with the exercise of the delegation, a vast public opinion campaign using public service broadcasting, traditional media and new media to raise public awareness of the impact of the various forms of tax evasion and avoidance, on the maintenance of essential public services starting from health, school and infrastructure”.

After the disavowal, he intervenes the group leader of Fratelli d’Italia Tommaso Foti: “I will disappoint my opposition colleagues but I reiterate my vote, not in relation to the merits but to the illustration that has been made of it”. Words that try to explain why the Brothers of Italy voted against the dem proposal, but also against the government they support.

“A hymn to the offense to the center-right, now I understand that Cuperlo has the same card as De Benedetti, who does not seem to me a champion of exact tax compliance”, adds Foti, underlining that “apart from this as a historical fact this year the recovery of tax evasion is very high”.
