Five advanced research laboratories for universities and industry go hand in hand

by admin

An area entirely dedicated to the development of new solutions in the most advanced fields of digital technologies at the service of the territory. This is the technological soul of the Uniud Lab Village – a pole for the technology transfer of the University of Udine supported by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and the Friuli Foundation – which has been enriched with five new computer laboratories. Among the new frontiers of research that will be addressed, cybersecurity, virtual and augmented reality, autonomous systems, intelligence and security, the Internet of things and robotics. «The creation of these new laboratories, dedicated to such driving themes from the point of view of innovation – highlights the rector of the University of Udine, Roberto Pinton – will contribute to favoring the process of accelerating innovation in the area. The hope is that these new settlements can constitute a reference point at national and international level for studies on artificial intelligence ». In particular, “the issues of cyber security, as demonstrated by the recent attacks on hospitals and important structures of services to citizens both in Italy and in the rest of the world – underlines the director of the DMIF, Gian Luca Foresti -, are certainly at the center of the attention of companies, public bodies and research centers that have the task of putting energy and skills into the field to secure their data and digital processes. A pole capable of studying and developing new solutions in this field will be able to act as a catalyst for advanced research projects ». A virtuous example of public-private partnership. “The collaboration between university and business is, and will increasingly be, the engine of innovation in a country, which is why Confindustria Udine – concludes the vice president, Dino Feragotto – has embraced the Uniud Lab Village project”.
