For All Saints 3.8 million presences in Italian hotels are expected

by admin

Good news for tourism companies: according to the estimates of the Centro Studi Turistici of Florence made for Assoturismo Confesercenti, the long weekend of Ognissanti will bring 3.8 million overnight stays to Italian accommodation facilities, of which over one million in cities of art , the destinations most affected by the pandemic.

A positive performance, therefore, even if the pre-pandemic levels remain distant for now: in 2019 there were in fact 4.2 million overnight stays in the same period (even in that case it was a long weekend).

Booked 70% of the rooms available online

The Cst survey is made on the basis of reservations through online tourism promotional-marketing portals. The result is a significant occupation of accommodation facilities, with 70% of the rooms available on web platforms booked, albeit with strong differences in the type of tourism product. As mentioned above, the art cities (80% of rooms available online booked), spas (78%) and hilly and mountain areas (72%) recorded good performances.

Assoturismo: a confirmation of restart

«After the good results of August, the All Saints’ weekend confirms the restart of the sector – observes the president of Assoturismo Confesercenti, Vittorio Messina -. However, this is a sudden restart, which does not allow us to declare the emergency in the sector over: the pre-pandemic levels are still far away ».

Messina underlines that “the tourist market, given the almost total absence of non-European visitors and the reduction in European flows, is still driven by domestic demand, which however does not offer continuity and is concentrated only on weekends and bridges”.
